Red Dot Best of the Best Award 2015

The Red Dot: Best of the Best is awarded for groundbreaking design and is the top prize in the international Red Dot Award: Design Concept competition, reserved for the best work in each of 31 categories. In 2015, the competition received 4,680 entries from companies, design institutes, design teams, and individual designers in 61 countries; 39 entries were bestowed the “Best of the Best” award.

Cirle granted Bausch + Lomb an exclusive license to commercialize the 3-D Surgical Navigation System for cataract surgery. 

Juror: 2015 Spark Awards

Rick is a juror in the 2015 Spark Design Awards in San Francisco. He is part of the "Wear" category.

Rick has designed several wearable connected devices - from a deep brain stimulation charging system for Medtronic to full body sensors for the bio-mechanics Silicon Valley start up TuringSense. Wearable sensors and smart materials that might help us in our daily lives are becoming as pervasive as they are in smart appliances, transportation and communication devices.

Connected Data - Transporter Design Awards

Our design of the Transporter picked up an Honoree award from Core77 and was a finalist in the Industrial Designers Society of America Awards.

Advisor to Connected Data, Inc.

Rick served as an Advisor to Connected Data in their start-up phase that included a successful Kickstarter campaign and the launch of the first product. Seven02 advised on the interaction design and designed the product, packaging and corporate identity.

Lily Pad: 1st place in Doug Mockett Design Competition

After the design competition Lily was developed into prototypes, including an integrated charging pad. They were shown at NeoCon, North America's largest design exposition and conference for commercial interiors. 1000 Product Designs

The book 1000 Product Designs, edited by Eric Chan, selected two seven02 projects for inclusion; drobo and one or a bunch.

Chiba Design Network Japan

Rick gave a presentation about seven02 followed by a discussion with a group of Japanese furniture, glass, product and graphic designers, from the Chiba Design Network in Ohara, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

Sunny Memories: Solar Design Exhibition & Lecture

Rick's CCA (California College of the Arts) students participated in an international collaborative project based on a dye solar cell invented at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland.

Jot: Metropolis Magazine & OFS Hotseat3 Finalist

Our concept for a lounge seating system was one of three finalists in the Metropolis Magazine / OFS brands Hotseat3 Competition. Rick presented the design at the OFS showroom in Santa Monica, CA during the awards ceremony.

Good Design Award: one or a bunch vases

The one or a bunch vases were awarded a 2008 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
